Hoeveel weet jij over de 10, 20 jaar ná de Tweede Wereldoorlog? Wat zou jij gedaan hebben in die periode, in je door de oorlog verscheurde moederland?
Een best grote groep Europeanen besloot te migreren. Naar de Verenigde Staten, Canada, Zuid-Afrika, Nieuw-Zeeland, en Australië. Dat laatste land is waar mijn afstudeerproject Eksterzang zich afspeelt.
Een jong gezin arriveert in het jaar 1953 in het Australische migrantencentrum Bonegilla, en wordt hier gesplitst. Vader, moeder en zoon proberen alle drie op hun eigen manier hun weg te vinden op deze vreemde plek, maar raken hierin elkaar kwijt.

Het hele boek is door mij bedacht, onderzocht, geschreven en geïllustreerd, en heeft ervoor gezorgd dat ik succesvol ben afgestudeerd van de opleiding Comic Design op ArtEZ Zwolle.

My partner recently graduated in Comic Design and has TWO books out that are up for order now!
The most recent one, titled Eksterzang (The Magpie’s Song) is about the post-war migration, specifically from the Netherlands to Australia and tells the story of a young family arriving at the Bonegilla migrant camp, each member trying to find their bearings. Note: this book is currently available in Dutch but will also be made available in English in the future!
The other book, titled In The Bones: Neanderthal Legacy, is about how neanderthals lived and refuting the modern misconceptions people have about them as well as what role other early humans such as homosapiens and denisovans played. Note: this book is currently available in English but will also be made available in Dutch soon!
Both books are very well researched, have amazing artwork and illustrations and witty writing! (I know I am biased but I am also so very proud of them)
